Guest Post: Paleo Spirit, Tea Time Cookies

Lea, the proprietor of Paleo Spirit, is a multi-talented cook, blogger, photographer and philosopher. We found her while researching and discussing family friendly paleo approaches and we’ve been following her closely ever since. We highly recommend you check out her blog for a variety of great discussions and recipes! What is Paleo Spirit? My name is Lea and I am a wife to my husband, Gavin, and the mother of two boys, Benjamin and Nathaniel. When I was growing up my father emphasized the importance of being “well-rounded”....

And We’re Back!

And We’re Back!

You ever work so hard for so long that you forget what it’s like to relax? Well, hi! We’re the Paleo Parents and we have essentially been working 17 hour days since our last vacation in June! Between Stacy’s crazy career, my crazy boys, the website, the book, the social media, we’ve not stopped to breathe in quite a while. We’ve barely had time to reflect upon the accomplishments we’ve made. Holy soap on a rope, Batman, we wrote a book! And some people even read it! (And, oh my goodness! We owe people a...

Coconut Chocolate Chip Cookies

Coconut Chocolate Chip Cookies

Not too long ago I was diligently picking up my Green Pastures Fermented Cod Liver Oil from For Goodness Sake in Leesburg, VA. Per usual, the boys and I were shopping around for good finds like Sea Snax full sheets, US Wellness Meats sticks, and spicy fermented salsa. The Paleo godfathers were singing harmoniously, until check-out. Where an adorable basket of gluten-free cookies sat. Like usual, I picked up each package of the various brand and then set them back down. It’s a ritual: “soy” this “rice flour” that,...

Guest Post: The Favorite Food Technique

If you haven’t yet heard, Wednesdays are our Guest Blogger Series day! It’s a day where Matt and I get a bit of a mid-week break while getting to share with you some of our favorite online bloggers.  And for their hard work, they get the benefit of your readership – we encourage you to please show all of them your support by visiting their blog and social media links at the end of this post! We get lots of questions on getting kids to try new things. So many children automatically reject anything outside of their comfort zone,...

Buffalo in a Pig’s Blanket

Buffalo in a Pig’s Blanket

We’re extremely lucky. We happen to have two tenants that live in our basement who happen to be in no position to pay their agreed upon rent! How is this a good thing, you ask? Well, our favorite freeloaders are my younger brother and his girlfriend, both of whom are quite underemployed. They owe us big time as we enter the 14th month of no rent payments.  So, when we need a favor, they’re usually very accommodating. Often, this means free babysitting. (Kidding! We Love you Uncleandii & partner!) A few nights ago, we abandoned...

Our Vacation Team

As you might be aware, Stacy and I are leaving on a jet plane due south tomorrow morning for the Low Carb Cruise. We are super excited to finally have a vacation after working for 11 months straight on not only Stacy’s super demanding job and my domestic responsibilities, but the book and the blog which is  taking increasingly more time from everything else. I, personally, plan on only doing things I want to do for the first time in a long while. I am super grateful for the industrial strength dynamo that I married for us getting to a...

Prepping for Vacation with Apple Cinnamon Mini Crumb Cakes

Holy cow. Who knew that getting ready for vacation could be SO stressful. At this point, the Low Carb Cruise canNOT come soon enough! Stacy’s been working 15 hour days at her job in anticipation of not being there next week. I’ve been doing everything from finding passports to building a schedule and making meals in advance, for my mom coming to stay with the boys for the 9 days we’re gone. We thought after all that work we’ve put into it, you might want to know what we’ve done to ensure our paleo-kids will stay...

Nom Nom Paleo App Review and Giveaway

One of the cool things about being totally rad bloggers and authors is getting to try things out early. Sometimes, though, that comes with some problems. For example, the amazingly talented minds behind Nom Nom Paleo invited us to review their new iPad app a couple months back. Unfortunately, we didn’t own an iPad. Won’t it work on our iPhones or our iMac or our Macbook (I know, so much Apple products in one family is downright ridiculous)? Of course not. We were feeling sad and left out because of this, but thought we would make...

Pankoconut Fish Sticks and Spicy Mango Salsa

Pankoconut Fish Sticks and Spicy Mango Salsa

You know, panko crumbs. And coconut. Stretching that too far? Well, that’s what they remind us of – sorry!  Alright, well, no matter what you call these – they’ll remind you of coconut shrimp. But they’re fish sticks! We served these with two “normal” eating young boys and they were licking their lips and asking for more. The whole idea came from Stacy finding fish on super sale at the super market. Now, we have made a vow to only consume sustainable and humane meat. However, knowing that it was 8pm...
