Guest Post: Iced Lavender Earl Grey Lattes, Primal Bites

Last year when we found Sarah of Primal Bites on Instagram we practically demanded that she share her recipe creating talents with our readers ASAP – and then she taught us how to make homemade chocolates like a pro. It was love at first bite.

We got to know each other through social media and learned that we have a lot in common, in particular we both love talking about lifting heavy things and how to feed the squats (you can even find Sarah on this episode of Strong Woman Radio sharing on her process with macros tracking)!

Sarah has become a dear friend and one of our top sources of inspiration in the kitchen. We watch both her blog and Insta-feed like hawks to see what delicious creations she will come up with next, and she always leaves us surprised and wanting more.

Take this week’s guest post for instance – we scheduled it assuming she would create a dessert, or perhaps a side dish, but no – she went and shared a beverage recipe that left us feeling refreshed through pictures alone! Simply scroll down to see what we are talking about!

So fun fact: Earl Grey was my warm beverage of choice growing up. Not hot chocolate. Not apple cider. Earl Grey tea. I know, I think I was born an adult.

Deliberately or not, my mom raised me on it, so whenever I fix myself a cup of Earl Grey I think of her. There’s nothing more comforting than a nice warm cuppa, as my British friends say. It’s starting to get warm though, which means… cue iced coffee and iced tea and latte season!

Lavender and Earl Grey are a match made in heaven—just take a moment to go drool over this Paleo Earl Grey Lavender Ice Cream or this pretty much Paleo Lavender-Earl Grey Flourless Chocolate Cake!

I’m going to paint a quick picture for you: Lavender and Earl Grey are betrothed, your kitchen is the marriage altar, this recipe is the beautiful wedding, and your taste buds live happily ever after! Okay so that might’ve been a little weird, but for real people… this lavender creamer tastes like what I imagine fairy dust would taste like: velvety, floral, sweet and honeyed. If I could, I would just drink the creamer straight. Oh wait, I already did that…  hehe, no regrets!

Anywho, the Lavender Creamer is equally as dreamy in iced coffee, so you can (and should) try that too! And it might be even dreamier when you stir it into warm almond or coconut milk for Lavender Milk & Honey… Oh man, the possibilities!

You can find Lavender at pretty much any Whole Foods in the spice section. If you don’t have a Whole Foods near you, you can find it on Amazon. Just make sure it’s edible and not for fragrance!

Iced Lavender Earl Grey Lattes

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. In a small pot, heat the creamer ingredients (heavy cream through honey). Stir to mix in the honey as it warms up. Once it just begins to simmer, turn off the heat and cover the pot. Let steep for 30 minutes.
  2. Strain the lavender from the milk using a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth. Cover and refrigerate until chilled.
  3. To make an iced latte, combine 1 ¼ C iced Earl Grey with 1/3 cup milk of choice and 2 Tbsp creamer. You can adjust the ratios to your liking, but if you don’t add enough creamer then the lavender flavor is lost.
  4. Store the creamer in a sealed container in the fridge, and use within 10 days.
